LGBTQ+ Safe Zone Training
Cost: TBA
Date: TBD
Time: TBD
Location: TBD
LGBTQ Safe Zone Training is a 2-3 hour course. It is an opportunity to learn about LGBTQ+ identities, gender and sexuality and examine prejudice, assumptions and privilege.
There is alot of pressure to already know how to be LGBTQ+ inclusive. While many of us want to be, we aren't necessarily comfortable with the language, our own level of understanding and where to go to learn more.
Safe Zone trainings are a great opportunity to learn and explore more about our own gender/sexuality and increase our understanding of LGBTQ+ identity and issues. This goes for people who are L, G, B, T, and/or Q and those who are straight and/or cisgender.
The Safe Zone trainings are a safe place for people to ask questions, be vulnerable and learn.
(the above is adapted from www.safezoneproject.com)
Learn why all this is important and how it relates to mental health - especially when it comes to LGBTQ youth!
Learn what it means to be an Ally and how you can be supportive of LGBTQ persons in your community!
Certificate of attendance provided at the end of training.
Facilitated by: Angela J. Docenko, MA, MLS, MHC-P and LGBTQ+ Ally.
The training has been adapted from the training found at www.safezoneproject.com
